The Guardian: Labour NEC asked to inquire into Newham mayoral ‘trigger ballot’

Writing in today’s Guardian, London correspondent Dave Hill writes about how ‘nearly 50 party members in the east London borough want their national governing body to inquire into their claims that the process for reselecting Sir Robin Wales was flawed’.

The article highlights the letter sent to Labour’s NEC which ”raises what it calls “three major failings” in the running of the ballot process, concerning the differing numbers of votes cast by different unions “because of a different interpretation of the rules”, the conduct of individual balloting and “conflicts of interest between the different roles of those charged with the management of the process”.
