Trigger ballot announced

Trigger ballot meetings will take place between 14 Nov and 4 Dec.

Members of Newham’s Local Campaign Forum received this email today, Weds 26 Oct. (LCF members had not been notified of the meeting and do not recognise the executive as elections for positions had not taken place. More info to follow)

Dear LCF Delegate, 

In accordance with NEC procedural guidelines the LCF Executive Committee met on Tuesday 25 October 2016 with the London Regional Director to agree the timetable for the selection process of our directly elected Mayor.

The agreed timetable is as follows:

Week 1.  w/c 31 October 2016 

Notice of procedure to party units and affiliates including notice to eligible members as at the freeze date

Week 3-6. w/c 14 November – 4 December 2016
Party units and affiliated organisations meet to consider affirmative nomination

w/c 14 November – 4 December 2016

Week 7. w/c 5 December 2016

Borough Count by LCF Officers
w/c 5 December 2016

Borough Count result to be received by Region
w/c 5 December 2016

Please note the following was also agreed with the Regional Director in accordance with the NEC procedural guidelines:-

  • The Procedures Secretary will be Patrick Murphy, Chair of Newham LCF
  • The freeze date for members to participate in the process is 25 October 2016.
    Only those members who have been a member of the Labour Party for 6 months by the freeze date, and are fully paid up with their subscriptions, will be eligible to participate. Those members not fully paid up will be given the opportunity to pay outstanding subscriptions due.
  • Affiliated organisations eligible to make an affirmative nomination are those that have been affiliated to any CLP with a geographical interest in the electoral area at least 60 days prior the freeze date.  Each affiliated organisation is entitled to make one affirmative nomination only,  even if it is affiliated to more than one CLP with a geographical interest in the electoral area.
  • The Labour Party branches and forums entitled to make an affirmative nomination, will be those that were entitled to send delegates to the last annual meeting of the CLP within the electoral area.
